THE UNPARDONABLE SIN (Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost)

Mark 3:22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. 23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But HE THAT SHALL BLASPHEME AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: 30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
Blasphemy Definition- the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk:
Here we see Jesus when confronted by the accusation that His power was given to Him by the Prince of Devils making the statement that whoever does this will never have forgiveness of sins.
Romans 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Clearly God makes the decision of whom He will have mercy on. Therefore those that make themselves enemies of God by calling Him evil God will harden and ultimately condemn them to hell. Obviously if someone makes a clear declaration of being an enemy of all that God is and rejects the only WAY of salvation, Jesus Christ, and die in this sin, God would not be just in forgiving them seeing that they make themselves an enemy unto death.

A CONSCIENCE DECISION

We see clearly that this is a conscience decision that a person makes. You have to choose to be an enemy after you have known the way of salvation and outright reject it and all that is called God. It is not something you do accidentally. Let's look at another scripture that deals with falling away:
FALLING AWAY
Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
Notice that the people spoken of here by the author were once enlightened and have tasted the heavenly gift, shared in the Holy Spirit and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come but it never said they had a relationship with Jesus by being born again. It never says they were saved. They may have repented from some of their works but they never let Jesus into their heart to be their King. Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3 that you must be BORN AGAIN to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. These people knew everything they needed to to be born again but they obviously did not bear the fruit of the Spirit in their lives as it says in verse 8. This tells us that they never were born again because if the Spirit of God lives in you He will be bearing the fruit in your life. Hebrews says once they fall away it is impossible to renew them again since they crucify Christ anew and put Him to an open shame. They simply have taken part with those that were born again and experienced the miracles and power of the Holy Spirit much like Judas who lived and travelled with Jesus and the disciples. None of the other disciples knew that he did not have complete allegiance to Jesus until his betrayal against Jesus. He had experienced everything that the Holy Spirit was doing. He even took care of the money bag for Jesus and yet, HE NEVER KNEW HIM.

WOLVES AMONG SHEEP

Many people have been raised in church from a young child. They know all of the language, the commandments, and have even experienced many movements of the Holy Spirit. They have seen others get truly born again and may have even experienced divine healings and other miracles. They may have even faked tongues or paid tithes, taught Sunday school or witnessed, etc. but they never did know the Lord Himself.  If these people fall away from the faith and openly denounce the Lord Jesus Christ, they crucify Him again publicly and put Him to an open shame because of those who saw them do these things. The writer of Hebrews says that these people are lost forever and cannot be brought back to the faith. Their conscience has been seared as with a hot iron.
1 Timothy 4:2  Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Jesus spoke of the ten virgins, five wise and five foolish. The five foolish had performed many things FOR God in the name of Jesus but what was the condemnation?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

BUT OUR SALVATION IS SURE

If Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith then we can be confident that our salvation is sure in Him if we have not only repented but let Him into our hearts by asking for the promised Holy Spirit to dwell within us and change us (Acts 1). How do we know when this has occurred? We will know it by the fruits that He begins to bear in our lives. Our desire becomes the same as Jesus. Our allegiance will stand up to the death and we will have this witness within ourselves.
How wonderful is it that we have a personal relationship with Jesus that is not based on man's judgement but on our own internal relationship with Him? Will others know that we are saved? Yes when they see the works of the Holy Ghost in our lives. Yes the devil knows how to imitate the things of God and he has fooled many people but you can know that you are saved when you know that you have been BORN AGAIN of the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ.
1 john 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
He that began the work in you is God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. You can trust Him with your salvation.
